A study is currently under way to learn if a new investigational drug may help relieve symptoms of gout and hyperuricemia. Study doctors want to assess the safety and effectiveness of this investigational drug.

If you volunteer and qualify, your participation may last up to 19 weeks. During your participation, you’ll receive study medication or placebo in the form of capsules that you’ll take once per day. You’ll also receive study-related medical care and gout protection in the form of colchicine tablets at no cost to you. Your health is very important to us and will be monitored throughout the study.

You may qualify for this study if you:

ž Are 18 to 75 years of age

ž Have been diagnosed with hyperuricemia and have a history or presence of gout

ž Have had 2 or more gout flares within the past 12 months

ž Can reliably record daily updates in an electronic study diary

ž Have experienced allopurinol failure, intolerance or contraindication OR

ž Are currently on febuxostat for at least 6 weeks
